Plant of the Day
Monday 5 November 2018The crowns of the Gunnera tinctoria (Chilean rhubarb, giant rhubarb) were being protected from the cold temperatures of the coming winter by inverting the old foliage on top of them and securing the large leaf blades by skewering them with the petioles (leaf stalks). This large, robust herbaceous perennial forms a spreading clump and thrives in damp locations.
